Senior School (11+)

The usual entry point to Abbot’s Hill Senior School is Year 7 (11+). Pupils can join in other year groups, subject to availability of places. Please contact Miss Amberley Cooper for further details.

A visit is highly recommended. We host a number of Open events throughout the year, and individual tours can also be arranged.

Entry to Year 7 (11+)

Assessment for entry to Year 7 takes place in January prior to the September of joining the School, and comprises the Independent Schools Examinations Board (ISEB) Common Pre-Test and interview.

The online, adaptive ISEB assessments consist of multiple-choice tests in Mathematics, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, assessing attainment and potential. Results are age-standardised. Whilst ISEB practice tests are not available, a familiarisation test is available, and other adaptive test providers such as Atom Learning may be useful to consult.

Interviews are held with the Head or Senior members of staff  in a relaxed, informal style, with no preparation required. Pupils enjoy this opportunity, as it is a chance for them to ask any questions they might have about the School. Parents are all also warmly invited to meet individually with the Head and one of the Executive team. This meeting forms no part of the assessment process but enables parents to gain a greater insight into Abbot’s Hill.

To register for a place at Abbot’s Hill Senior School, please complete the registration form. Registration is confirmed with payment of a non-refundable fee of £100.

We invite all candidates to an Assessment Day. This is a chance to gain a feel for the school, meet staff and current pupils and have some fun meeting other candidates during a variety of afternoon activities. In the morning, pupils will sit the ISEB Common Pre-test. After lunch, there will be activities where all candidates will meet each other and begin to form friendships which they will nurture throughout their Senior School education.

We are aware that some candidates may have already undertaken this assessment at another school or with their Prep school. Once registered with Abbot’s Hill, a pupil’s score will automatically transfer to us; candidates cannot resit the test.
