Understanding the value of an Abbot’s Hill education

Choosing an independent school is a significant family decision.

At Abbot’s Hill School, fees support far more than lessons alone. They provide expert teaching, small classes, exceptional pastoral care, rich co-curricular opportunities and an environment where children are known individually and encouraged to thrive.

Basic fees are inclusive of textbooks, stationery, lunch, games and dancing lessons (except Ballet). Optional tuition can be arranged through the school in a variety of musical instruments. Speech and Drama and additional coaching in certain sports, such as skiing, is available. All these activities will be charged in addition to the basic fees.

School Fees are payable on or before the first day of term for which they are due. The Offer Letter and Acceptance Form give rise to a legally binding agreement which takes effect when the Acceptance Form and deposit are received by the School. Parents should note that on accepting a place, they become liable for the first term’s fees if they subsequently do not take it up.

All fees and supplemental charges quoted are inclusive of taxes, which have been added (where applicable).

Fees are paid via Direct Debit on a termly basis.

Fees correct as of July 2025. Fees are reviewed annually in Spring for the Autumn Term.

Please note: Children attend our nursery for a minimum of three days per week

Government Funding for Nursery Places

*15 hours’ government funding (up to a maximum of 3 hours per day) for up to 38 weeks per year is available from the term after your child’s 3rd birthday until they leave the Nursery.

Some families may be eligible for 30 hours funding from the term after their child turns 9 months old. Please contact fees@abbotshill.herts.sch.uk for further information.

Payment Plans

Fees in Advance Scheme

A scheme is available to pay fees in advance which offers a flat rate discount applied to the fees, excluding the first term. Details can be obtained from the School Bursar.

Additional Charges

Nursery: Late collection charge £1 per minute
Nursery Early drop off: £5 per day
Nursery Late collection: £5 per day
Breakfast: £4 per day (Years 7 and up); £3 for Reception to Year 6.
After School Care: £10 per hour (Reception to Year 6)

Music Tuition*

Fees for 10 x 30 minute individual lessons: £250 per term
Senior Group Music Theory Lessons: £55 per term (£5.50 per lesson)

LAMDA*

Individual lessons: £16.50 per lesson (Senior), £22.50 (year 4-6)
Paired lessons: £13.50 per lesson (Senior), £12.50 per lesson (Year 4-6)
Group lessons (max 3): £10.50 per lesson (Senior); £9.50 per lesson (Year 4-6)

*Please note that for LAMDA and Music Tuition, your contract is with the Peripatetic Teacher and parents are billed directly by the teacher.

Other

There are a small number of other extra-curricular clubs run by external coaches. Details of these charges can be obtained from the PE Department.
