Assistant Head, Academic Progress

We are looking for an experienced or aspiring Assistant Head to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a significant part in ensuring the highest of standards of learning, teaching and academic progress and achievement at Abbot’s Hill School. The Assistant Head, Academic Progress will focus on aspects of school development that are linked to their own strengths, alongside other roles and responsibilities that will broaden their leadership experience and skills.

School Secretary

Full time, term time plus 25 days

Required for January 2023

Abbot’s Hill are looking for a highly organised, pro-active and flexible School Secretary to support both the Prep and Senior School.

Reporting to the Office Manager the School Secretary is part of a busy office team.  The successful candidate will have excellent ICT, typing and communication skills coupled with an outgoing and personable nature.  The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines whilst mainlining a positive attitude is also essential.  Experience of working in a similar role is desirable but not essential.


PA to the Deputy Heads

Full time, Term Time plus 5 weeks. Required for January 2023 or sooner. 

Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. We are looking to recruit a well-organised, flexible and out-going PA to join our friendly and busy team.

Reporting to the Deputy Head Academic this role involves supporting a number of key senior staff, requiring first class organisational skills along with flawless written and spoken English.  It calls for meticulous attention to detail with competent and accurate typing skills.

You will need strong communication skills and have a proven record of multitasking and handling emerging priorities and deadlines under pressure. This will call for a flexible approach and someone who is adaptable with the ability to deal with both a reactive and a proactive workload.  Experience of working in a school and in a similar role would be advantageous.

Science Technician

Part – time (Monday to Wednesday, 8am – 5pm)

Required for January 2023

Abbot’s Hill School has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic part-time Science Technician to join our Science Faculty. The successful candidate will contribute to the smooth running of the Science Department. They will help to coordinate the use and maintenance of the practical science resources and facilities as well as provide assistance and advice in meeting the practical needs of the science curriculum.

The Science department is a successful and ambitious one. The teachers and technicians work closely together to provide a dynamic curriculum and are proud of the strength of the three sciences at GCSE level and the enthusiastic involvement from all pupils in co-curricular activities.

Facilities Assistant

Monday to Friday – 7.00am until 5.00pm (3.00pm during the school holidays)

Full time, 52 Weeks per Year

Abbot’s Hill School are looking to appoint a Facilities Assistant who will be part of the School’s facilities team. The role involves being a member of a hardworking support team carrying out both maintenance, car parking and caretaking tasks.

Senior School Cover Supervisor. Required for January 2023

Part-time – 4 days per week, 8am – 4.30pm

Abbot’s Hill School wish to appoint a highly competent and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor.

The Cover Supervisor will cover and supervise lessons as required.  They will support teaching in the absence of the class teacher by ensuring that pupils understand the instructions for work which has been left. They will manage behaviour and promote a positive working atmosphere within the classroom.


Temporary Teacher of Spanish and French required for January 2023 for two terms

Part time 0.6-0.8 FTE, over four days.
