School Bus Chaperones – Bovingdon starting points

1 Person – Morning Shift – Monday to Friday (term time only), 6.15am – 8.15am
1 Person – Evening Shift – Monday to Friday (term time only), 3.30pm to 6.30pm

Rate of pay: £10.00 per hour

We are looking to recruit Bus Chaperones for our school bus routes.

The successful candidates will take registers and ensure that pupils get on and off the bus safely. They will be responsible for the safety, comfort and welfare of the children during the entire journey to and from School. They will be required to monitor and maintain behaviour on the bus, ensuring that seat belts and booster seats are used correctly.

There is also a requirement to attend INSET/Training days and other major school events.

Hours of work (term time only) are:
Morning Shift – Monday to Friday, 6.15am – 8.15am (start/end point Abbot’s Hill School)
Evening Shift – Monday to Friday, 3.30pm to 6.30pm (start/end point Bovingdon)

The ideal candidates will have a calm and patient manner and be able to work well with young and teenage children. Previous relevant experience is highly desirable but not essential.  First Aid Training will be provided.

The successful candidates will need to be able to get to Abbot’s Hill School by car for the morning shift. For the afternoon shift, the employee will need to park at the bus depot in Bovingdon where they will be transported to Abbot’s Hill School via one of the school buses in order to pick up pupils at the school. The afternoon bus will then end up back at Bovingdon bus depot. The role may suit someone who is semi-retired but wishes to work for a few hours per day during term time. Candidates are welcome to apply for just the morning or afternoon shift, or both shifts.

Holiday Activity Club Leaders

Abbot’s Hill School is currently seeking to recruit enthusiastic and dedicated Holiday Activity Club Leaders for our Easter 2019 holiday courses.

The vacancies that we are currently looking to recruit leaders for are:

  • 8 April – 12 April 2018 – Cookery, Drama, Drama (Foundation), Lacrosse, Aquatics, Football (Juniors) and Multi-Sports
  • 15 April – 18 April 2018 – Digiwall, Fashion Design, Football, Football (Juniors), Multi-Activity, Technology, Art & Craft, Racket Sports and Fun with Science

Specific course descriptions and course age-groups/times applicable to the above are available on request.

The leader has the responsibility for planning, preparing and delivering a quality, age appropriate, holiday course. You will engage all children on your course within a safe, secure and caring environment. You will be committed to providing high quality customer service to parents and children and providing comprehensive care for the children.

Leaders will set up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment for their course and also purchasing consumables within an agreed budget.

Salary: £24.00 per hour

Exam Invigilator

Hours of work: Zero Hours contract. Hours are dependent on demand.

Rate of pay: £8.90 per hour

Required for 2019, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Exam Invigilator to provide support to the examination process.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations and guidance.

Duties include (but are not limited to): supporting the Examinations Officer with the day-to-day operation of examination venues, assisting with setting up examination venues, invigilating during examinations, supervision of candidates, dealing with queries raised by candidates, dealing with examination irregularities in accordance with strict procedures, checking attendance, collecting scripts and delivering scripts to the Examinations Officer.

You should be conversant with JCQ’s regulations, have an understanding of the examination processes, and possess effective oral and written communication skills, good numeracy skills and be flexible in your approach to work.

Daytime Cleaning Operative

Hours of work: 27.5 hours per week. Term Time: 8.00am – 2.00pm (half hour unpaid lunch break at 11.30am)
During holiday camp weeks: 12.30pm – 6.30pm
During other school holidays: 10.00am – 4.00pm

Rate of pay: £8.25 per hour, £11,979.50 per annum

Abbot’s Hill School are seeking an all year round Cleaning Operative to join our Housekeeping Team.  The role will involve providing a daytime cleaning service to the school, during Term Time and school holidays.  Duties will include:

  • Providing a twice daily cleaning service for all cloakrooms in school, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness
  • Carrying out specific cleaning tasks across the school, e.g glass door panels, paintwork, high level dusting, keeping entrances clean and tidy, polishing trophies and other tasks by agreement with the Housekeeper.
  • Respond to calls for housekeeping services during the day, which may include cleaning up after a child has been sick or had an accident, and other spillages that need to be dealt with promptly.
  • Check and replenish supplies of cleaning products around the school
  • During Easter and Summer holidays, provide a cleaning service for Holiday Activity Camps
  • Respond to any other reasonable requests

Previous experience is highly desirable but not essential. Due to the nature of the job role, applicants will need to be flexible, adaptable and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They should be pro-active, self-motivated and highly organised.
