Another busy week of sport at Abbot’s Hill, with plenty of enthusiasm, determination and fantastic team spirit across our teams!
 
🏑 U11 Hockey | First Fixture
Year 6 took to the pitch for their first-ever hockey fixture against St Hilda’s and did themselves proud! They showed fantastic enthusiasm, put their skills into practice and embraced the challenge. Lots of great play, new skills learnt and plenty of positives to take away
 
🏑 U8 Hockey Festival
Our U8 girls had a fantastic time at their hockey festival, showing off their newly learnt skills with great enthusiasm. There were smiles all round, wonderful team spirit and growing confidence throughout the matches!
 
🏃 Senior District Cross Country
We hosted the Senior District Cross Country at Abbot’s Hill, where our runners showed great determination and resilience against some strong competition. Everyone gave it their all and supported one another throughout. A brilliant display of team spirit!
 
🏸 Year 9 & 10 Badminton | District Finals
A huge well done to our Year 9 and 10 badminton players, who reached the District Finals in their very first badminton fixture! A fantastic achievement and a brilliant display of skill, teamwork and character.
 
🏐 U12 Netball
Our U12 netball team showed great enthusiasm and resilience throughout their match. Despite the result, the girls enjoyed the experience, worked hard together and had plenty of positives to take away.
 
⚽ U9 ISA 6-a-side Football Tournament
Today, our U9 footballers are representing Abbot’s Hill at the ISA 6-a-side Football Tournament. We look forward to sharing how they get on.

Our Year 10 Product Design students enjoyed an inspiring trip to the Design Museum and IKEA on Oxford Street, gathering ideas for their upcoming Lamp Design project.
 
At the Design Museum, they explored innovative designs and discovered how materials, shapes, colours and manufacturing techniques can transform everyday products. A visit to IKEA offered the chance to investigate a huge variety of lighting styles, finishes and effects.
 
Armed with plenty of photographs, ideas and inspiration, students are now ready to bring their own creative concepts to life!

A brilliant opportunity to experience design first-hand and get those creative ideas flowing.

Our Reception children recently became curious investigators as they set off on an adventure to solve a mystery: how was their magical potion set made?
 
After enjoying lots of imaginative potion-making in our tuff trays, the children were amazed to discover that their set had been made right here at school! But how?
 
Armed with their own maps, complete with familiar landmarks such as the tree in Squirrel Woods, the children set off to investigate. Their adventure led them to the Senior School computing suite, where Mrs Cruz Thompson revealed the secret… a 3D printer!
 
The children were fascinated to see the printer in action, watching as it created another spoon for their potion set, layer by layer. They also explored a range of 3D-printed creations, discovering how computer instructions and a special material called filament can turn an idea into a real object.
 
It was a wonderful opportunity to follow the children’s curiosity, ask questions and discover how technology can be used creatively. We think their potion set has become even more magical now that they know how it was made!
