Welcome to Abbot’s Hill

Abbot’s Hill was named The Sunday Times Parent Power Independent 11–16 School of the Year 2026 — recognition of what we believe matters most: pupils who are genuinely happy, and genuinely well-prepared for what comes next.

Step into Abbot’s Hill School — a warm, inspiring community where curious minds thrive, and a lifelong love of learning begins.

Founded in 1912, we’ve spent over a century getting the balance right. Excellent GCSE outcomes (65% Grade 9-7 in 2025) sit alongside a co-curricular programme of 50+ clubs including swimming, debating, Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver and Forest School — because we don’t think academic ambition and a well-rounded childhood are in competition. We think they depend on each other.

We’re also on an exciting journey: our first boys joined the Prep School in September 2025, and Senior boys join Year 7 in September 2026 as we become fully co-educational. It’s a big step, and one we’re taking carefully, for all the right reasons. Boys will then be able to join Year 8 in September 2027, and Year 9 in 2028, paving the way towards full education from 6 months to 16 years.

Set across 76 acres of Hertfordshire countryside between Hemel Hempstead and Kings Langley — within 20 minutes’ drive of St Albans, Harpenden and Berkhamsted — Abbot’s Hill offers an education for boys and girls from nursery right through to GCSE.

What a wonderful way to round off the school year! Our Senior School Commemoration Day was a celebration of achievement, talent and the many memorable moments that have made this year so special.

We were delighted to welcome our guest speaker, Musharaf Asghar, who shared his inspiring story of overcoming challenges and encouraged our pupils to believe in themselves, embrace resilience and never give up on their ambitions. We also enjoyed a beautiful performance from our choir and a brilliant snippet from this year’s fantastic production of The Addams Family.

The presentation of cups, plates and certificates celebrated the many achievements of our pupils, while the passing of leadership roles to our new Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl marked an exciting moment for the year ahead. We also said a fond farewell to our Class of 2026, with each leaver receiving their very own Abbot’s Hill bear, a special keepsake to remind them that they will always be part of our community as they embark on their next adventures.

A huge thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the day such a success, from our Grounds, Music, Drama and Catering teams to all the staff and pupils who helped create such a memorable occasion.
