Year 2 create recycled penguin windsocks

Posted: 10th March 2021

It’s Waste Awareness Week! Year 2 made their own windsocks using only recycled materials.

Woodland School the pupils discussed ways in which they could help reduce waste in the world and decided that one way would be to reuse or re-purpose materials that we may have thrown away and would have then contributed to landfill. Following on from the discussion the pupils set about creating their own penguin windsocks from recycled materials.
They used milk cartons for the centre, black bin bags for their penguins body and then fashioned faces from scraps of paper. They flew amazingly well on the school field. The pupils loved having Head, Mrs Gorman help them build their windsocks!
