Abbot’s Hill pupils consistently achieve incredible results at GCSE which opens the doors to Sixth Forms and further study.
Furthermore, pupils are clearly stretched as we significantly outperform the national average for the top grades (7-9). This underpins our knowledge that at Abbot’s Hill, potential is nurtured and excellence is cultivated.
Of course, academic excellence isn’t just about final grades – it’s about how far each pupil travels on their educational journey. At Abbot’s Hill, we take pride in the remarkable value-added score that many of our pupils achieve, attaining higher grades across their subjects compared to the national profile of pupils of the same ability.
When your child arrives at Abbot’s Hill, we establish their baseline through comprehensive assessments. From this starting point, we track their journey all the way through to GCSE results at the end of Year 11, the culmination of an Abbot’s Hill education – and the transformation can be extraordinary. In some subjects, our pupils achieve value-added scores that represent an average improvement of two full grades above initial expectations.
This isn’t just statistics – it’s proof of what happens when young minds are nurtured within our distinctive educational environment. Our approach doesn’t simply maintain standards; it elevates every child to heights they might never have imagined possible.
The message is clear: the earlier your child joins our community, the greater the academic transformation we can achieve together!
2025 GCSE Results
2025 has proved to be a record-breaking year for the school as we see our percentage of students achieving the highest grades (7-9) increase from 42% in 2024 to a fabulous 64%, with 21% of grades at grade 9, far out-performing both the national average and a number of other local academically selective independent schools.
We are delighted that again the majority of our Year 11 leavers have secured their first-choice Sixth Form destinations.
Our academic results are impressive: 64% of grades were between 9 and 7, nearly three times the national average, while 99.2% of grades ranged between 9 and 4, significantly higher than the national average of 67.1%.
We are incredibly proud of all our students; each has their own unique story, and their different journeys have led to today’s well-deserved successes.
Some individual student successes are:
- Charlotte R achieved an average point score of 8.9 (nine subjects at grade 9, and one at grade 8) and leaves Abbot’s Hill to study Maths, Chemistry, Biology at Philosophy at St Albans School. She hopes to study Medicine at university after A levels;
- Nife A achieved an average point score of 8.8 and is taking up a place to study Maths, Computing and Photography at the London Academy of Excellence. Nife’s achievement is all the more impressive when considered alongside her football commitments to Tottenham Ladies U21 team;
- India B also achieved an average point score of 8.8 (including 9 subjects at grade 9) and is moving to to study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Biology at St George’s School Harpenden, with a view to studying Medicine at university;
- Imogen achieved a remarkable value-added score higher than 4, meaning she earned grades a staggering FOUR levels higher in each subject compared to her baseline assessments when she joined AHS.
Another 12 students achieved value-added scores above 2, again meaning their grades were two levels higher than could have been expected from their Year 7 baseline assessments. As a whole, the school value-added average was 1.34, meaning that we added, on average, 1.34 grades to the expected level for each student in each subject.
