Academic

At Abbot’s Hill, academic success isn’t simply about results—though we’re immensely proud of those—it’s about igniting a lifelong love of learning that will carry your child forward long after they leave us.

Our broad and stimulating curriculum, delivered by teachers who are genuinely passionate about their subjects, creates an environment where curiosity thrives and ambition flourishes. We’re not an academic “hothouse”, and we never will be. Instead, we believe in nurturing each student’s potential through challenge, encouragement, and the highest expectations, all within a supportive and inspiring atmosphere.

The results speak for themselves. Year after year, our pupils excel in public examinations, and we continue to build on this success with our best ever GCSE results in 2025.

What truly sets us apart, however, is the remarkable progress every student makes. Bright pupils achieve outstanding results, whilst those who find academics more challenging consistently perform, on average, 1.4 grades better than predicted—progress that puts us amongst the very best schools in the country.

But here’s what matters most to us: when our students leave Abbot’s Hill to continue their education, they take with them far more than impressive grades. They carry qualities that will serve them throughout their lives—kindness, respect, integrity, independence of thought, adaptability and resilience. They are equipped not just with what they know, but with the curiosity, determination and self-belief to keep learning, growing and thriving throughout their lives.

Alongside the core curriculum, Year 9 and 10 students follow the Abbot’s Hill InspirED Programme.

The InspirEd Programme is a dynamic, one-hour-per-week curriculum designed specifically for Year 9 and 10 students, aimed at developing practical skills, personal growth, and social responsibility.

Delivered throughout the school year, this programme equips students with essential life skills, encourages community involvement, and builds confidence in communication – all of which are vital for success in both academic and real-world settings.

Sessions on offer vary from year to year, but often include: Volunteering (either at a local primary school or the local care home), Money Matters (exploring personal financial literacy), Kitchen Garden (growing produce on our site) and Presentation Skills (exploring voice projection, body language and audience engagement in public speaking).

Our Mission, Vision & Values
