Parent Partnership Events

Abbot’s Hill Prep School staff are delighted to introduce our programme of parent workshops, designed to support you at every stage of your child’s early education journey.

Led by our experienced teaching staff, these sessions offer a welcoming and informative space to explore key topics such as developing early literacy and numeracy skills, preparing your child for school, and nurturing confidence and resilience. Rooted in our day-to-day classroom experience, each workshop combines practical guidance with the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and gain reassurance.

Whether your child is just beginning their school journey or you are looking for ways to further support their learning at home, these sessions are designed to equip you with helpful insights and simple, effective strategies.

We look forward to welcoming you and working together to give your child the very best start.

Building Resilience & Emotional Intelligence (Ages 3–7)

Wednesday 29 April 6.15 – 7.00pm

Join us for an engaging and practical session led by Victoria Lopez Bernal, Abbot’s Hill Deputy Head (Prep) and Lucy Daviss, Abbot’s Hill Head of Early Years.
Victoria is an experienced educator with a strong background in supporting children’s wellbeing, emotional development, and early years learning. Drawing on both professional experience in school settings and real-world insight from working closely with young children and families, Victoria brings a warm, relatable and evidence-informed approach.
Lucy brings a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of how young children learn, offering practical insights and reassuring guidance grounded in everyday classroom experience.
This session is underpinned by research-based guidance from Tooled Up Education, ensuring that strategies shared are not only practical but grounded in the latest thinking around child development, resilience, and emotional intelligence.
Aimed at parents and carers of children aged 3–7, this talk will introduce simple, effective ways to help children understand their emotions, build confidence, and develop resilience from an early age—setting the foundation for future wellbeing and success. This session also acts as a launchpad for a wider programme of support.

Supporting Literacy and Numeracy in the Early Primary Years

Monday 18 May 6.15 – 7.00pm

In the early years of primary education, children build the essential foundations for reading, writing, and mathematical understanding. This session will explore how these skills are developed in the classroom and how they can be supported at home in simple, engaging ways. With practical ideas and clear guidance, we aim to help you feel confident in nurturing your child’s growing independence, curiosity, and love of learning.

This session will be led by Victoria Lopez Bernal and Christopher Stephenson, Abbot’s Hill Assistant Head (Prep)

School Readiness

Friday 12 June 8.15 – 9.00am

Starting school is an exciting milestone for both children and parents. This session will explore what “school readiness” really means, looking beyond academics to the social, emotional, and practical skills that help children settle happily and confidently into school life. We’ll share supportive, easy-to-use strategies to help your child feel secure, independent, and ready to thrive from their very first day.

This session will be led by Victoria Lopez Bernal and Lucy Daviss
