Open Events and Visits

There are many ways to get a taste of life at Abbot’s Hill – whatever you choose, you can be sure of a warm welcome. We are very proud of everything that goes on each day in our classrooms, outside in the 76 acres of parkland and through our extensive co-curricular programme, and our pupils are always keen to meet prospective families and chat about their experiences at school.  We know that our pupils are our very best ambassadors!

School in Action Morning, Tuesday 28th April 10.00-12.00

See our school as it really is — on a normal school day

The best way to get a true feel for our school is to visit when it’s buzzing with everyday life. Our School in Action Morning offers prospective families the chance to experience our 4–16 school in full flow — from lively lessons and creative spaces to the warm, purposeful atmosphere that makes our community so special.

During the morning, you’ll enjoy a relaxed, guided tour of the school while lessons are taking place, with opportunities to:

  • Drop in on classes across the age range (4–16) and see teaching and learning in action
  • Chat with pupils and staff to hear first-hand what life here is really like
  • Explore our facilities and grounds and get a sense of the opportunities on offer
  • Enjoy refreshments and meet other visiting families
  • Hear from the Head and key members of staff, with plenty of time for questions

Whether you’re just beginning your search or already considering your next steps, this is a friendly, informative morning designed to help you feel confident about what matters most: how your child will learn, grow and thrive here.

Saturday Open Day – Saturday 19th September 2026

Each September, visitors will hear from the Head and some of our pupils, followed by the opportunity to explore all subjects, visit many classrooms and enjoy our 76-acre campus in the company of our delightful pupils. Staff, parents and pupils are also available throughout around the school site for questions, and our fabulous catering team provide a wonderful spread for you to enjoy.

Booking for our September 2026 event will open shortly, but in the meantime, please do complete an enquiry form.

Our Clan Dance Competition was an incredible showcase of talent, teamwork, and dedication.

Our senior students have been working hard, practising and rehearsing to come together and deliver some amazing performances. The competition was tough, and every clan shone on stage, bringing energy, creativity, and spirit to their routines.

A huge congratulations to this year’s winners, Macneil.

Thank you as well to our Marketing Club for putting together such a fantastic reel and capturing the event so brilliantly.

We were delighted to welcome local historian Richard Westwood to Abbot’s Hill School to speak with our Year 6 students about the rich history of our site.

The visit, kindly arranged by Mrs Kneller, gave the girls a fascinating insight into John Dickinson, who built Abbot’s Hill as a family home, and how it has evolved into the school we know today.

Students also enjoyed learning about our Observatory, which once housed a telescope, adding another layer to the school’s unique heritage.

The girls showed great curiosity throughout the talk, asking thoughtful questions and engaging enthusiastically with the stories shared. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring local history to life.

It is also time to say a fond farewell to some of our wonderful staff members. You will be truly missed, and we wish you all the very best in your next chapters.

The final decision will be announced tomorrow morning during Mark Reading, and we could not be prouder of every student who took part. Each candidate showed remarkable courage, authenticity and passion throughout the process.

The Easter Bunny paid a special visit to our school today.

Wind and hail showers could not stop the fun as everyone set off on an exciting Easter egg hunt. There was also a competition to see who could collect the most eggs, and the Macneil clan were victorious.

To finish the day, every child received a delicious chocolate egg.

A big thank you to AHSPA for helping keep the Easter Bunny well stocked with eggs. We are very grateful for your support.
