There will be no live lessons or curriculum work set, instead the pupils will be encouraged to read a book, listen to podcasts or spend time researching and expanding their knowledge. Teachers at Abbot’s Hill feel it was very important that the pupils had a chance to wind down and have a day to reflect ahead of returning to school next week.
Our Year 7 pupils took the lead, hosting a fantastic assembly for Years 4, 5 and 6 all about life in our senior school.
After hearing their insights and experiences, our younger pupils asked a range of thoughtful questions, showing real curiosity about the journey ahead, it turns out senior school isn’t so scary after all!

What a fantastic Gruffalo Day we had!
Our Pre-Prep pupils spent the day exploring the wonderful world of The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. We set off on an exciting Gruffalo hunt around the school grounds, searching for clues and spotting familiar characters from the much-loved story.
After enjoying a lovely picnic outdoors, we headed off on a special theatre trip to experience the magic of live storytelling. The performance brought the story to life in a fun, engaging, and wonderfully imaginative way.
There were plenty of laughs, a few scary Gruffalo moments, and lots of excited faces throughout the day. Our pupils thoroughly enjoyed the hilarious performance and loved immersing themselves in the world of the Gruffalo.
A truly memorable day filled with adventure, storytelling, and smiles all around.

What a weekend on our Silver DofE expedition.
Swindon sunshine and some very stylish sunhats kicked things off on Saturday followed by a full day of walking and camp cooking.
Sunday brought an unforgettable wake up call from a very loud donkey but the girls smashed their first independent walk with resilience and teamwork then topped it off with their own talent show.
Monday meant packing up the dreaded Trangia clean and celebrating Luisa’s birthday before a brilliant Ridgeway walk finishing early and earning well deserved ice creams.

A glimpse into rehearsals at the end of last term, as our GCSE Drama students prepared for their scripted exam, Be My Baby by Amanda Whittington. Students specialised as either actors or designers, bringing to life the story of two girls sent to a 1960s mother-and-baby home, a powerful and emotional exploration of stigma, friendship, and loss.

Adventure came to life at our Come and Explore Day.
We loved welcoming children from local schools for a hands on day in the great outdoors, taking part in orienteering, survival skills, cooking on open fires, forest school activities, and creating with sustainability in mind.
Throughout the day, everyone had the chance to build essential outdoor skills, stepping out of their comfort zones and embracing new challenges.

Year 7 Wellbeing Club celebrated World Earth Day by exploring our beautiful school grounds.
They spent time slowing down, noticing the signs of spring and appreciating the natural beauty all around us. From blossoming flowers to fresh greenery, it was a reminder of how powerful nature can be for our wellbeing.
