Co-Curricular
At Abbot’s Hill, we develop the whole child. Pupils leave us prepared not only for academic success, but also equipped with the skills needed to become active, compassionate citizens who make significant and lasting contributions to others throughout their lives. We do this by providing an innovative, relevant and ambitious academic curriculum, and by offering a broad, challenging and aspirational co-curricular programme for all. This is the time to challenge yourself. You have so many opportunities in front of you. All we ask is that you try as many of them as you can. Whether you end up as a famous actor, a gold-winning Olympian, or just find a hobby for life, it all starts with the first time you try.
The extended school day includes a longer lunchtime break, and is structured to offer over 100 weekly clubs and activities before, during and after the core teaching hours.
You might fall in love with team sports like lacrosse or netball, you might discover a passion for performing on stage to bring a story to life, you might even find out that abseiling is your thing! It could be music, art, or drama. It could be individual sports that test you to your limit. It could be taking trips around the world or camping out under the stars. It could even be bringing your own passion to school and starting a club of your own. It could be all these things and more. ‘You’ll never know if you don’t try’, so they say – so let’s try new things together.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award develops the qualities no classroom can teach alone — resilience, initiative, and the ability to work as part of a team. For Bronze and Silver awards, our pupils are supported every step of the way through a structured training programme. Achieving a DofE Award is a mark of real character, and one that Sixth Forms, universities and employers recognise and admire.
