Bonjour!
Our Reception children enjoyed a wonderful French-themed breakfast this week and were transported to their very own French restaurant experience!
The children had the opportunity to put their French learning into practice by ordering their breakfast in French and using their best manners. Having worked hard on their French throughout the year, it was fantastic to see them confidently using their language skills in a real-life setting.
The morning was filled with lots of fantastic French speaking. And of course, starting the day with a delicious pain au chocolat was a definite highlight – that’s always a yes from us!
Très bien, Reception!

Last week, our Year 2 class enjoyed a very special sleepover at school.
The children spent the night in the beautiful Drawing Room of the Main House, where they enjoyed games, watched a film, and tucked into a delicious takeaway-themed meal prepared by our wonderful catering team.
After an evening full of fun and laughter, everyone snuggled down in their sleeping bags for a memorable night with friends.
For some of our pupils, this was their very first time staying away from home, and they were incredibly brave. We were so proud of how brave and independent they were throughout the experience.

On Thursday 21 May, Prep School musicians took to the stage for a wonderful evening concert performed in front of a large and appreciative crowd of parents and families. The event showcased the breadth of musical talent across the school and created a joyful atmosphere from beginning to end.
Audiences were treated to performances from the Brass, Flute, Clarinet and String ensembles as well as our choirs and St Nick’s Band. Each group performed with enthusiasm, confidence and impressive musicianship, reflecting the dedication and hard work of the pupils and their teachers throughout the year.
The concert was not only a celebration of musical achievement, but also a reminder of the many benefits of being involved in music at school. Joining one of the school’s music groups is a fantastic way for pupils to connect with others, develop discipline, strengthen their musicianship and grow in confidence.
We would warmly encourage every pupil who plays an instrument to consider becoming part of one of the school’s ensembles and experience the enjoyment and sense of community that school music brings.
A special thank you to Chloe and Vidya, our music prefects, for their support and contribution.

A few weeks ago, our Bronze DofE participants completed their practice expedition. The expedition began with kit checks, where a few students discovered that their waterproofs weren’t quite up to the challenge and had to borrow some rather fetching ponchos!
Saturday’s guided walk provided plenty of opportunities to develop navigation and teamwork skills. While some groups took a few unintended detours, these moments provided valuable learning experiences and plenty of stories to tell.
After enjoying superb weather throughout the day, the rain arrived just in time for students to cook their first meals on Trangias!
Sunday started with the infamous Trangia clean, with students working hard to get them sparkling. They then set off independently, putting their map-reading, teamwork and problem-solving skills into practice.
The weekend also included a special celebration as we marked Freya’s birthday on expedition! Combined with another day of beautiful weather, it made for a memorable experience for all involved.

Year 6 were whisked away to Hogwarts for a magical two weeks of Harry Potter-themed learning. Starting in the bedroom under the stairs, the girls received their acceptance letters through the window and were captivated by potion-writing lessons, the creation of magical creatures, scene writing, and Foley workshops.
They were sorted into houses by the Sorting Hat, and our classroom was transformed into the common rooms of Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, and Ravenclaw. The room also became a museum filled with props inspired by the Harry Potter films.
The experience was topped off with a trip to Warner Bros. Studio Tour, where the girls spotted many of the exciting sets, places, and props they had been learning about. A daily hunt for the Golden Snitch kept everyone guessing, and there is still more magic to come with a Quidditch PE lesson once the children have made their broomsticks!
What a magical couple of weeks it has been.
