Pre Prep and Prep Admissions

The usual entry points to Abbot’s Hill Prep are 4+ (Reception), or 7+ (Year 3). Occasional vacancies do arise in other year groups.

Please do not hesitate to contact our Admissions Office for information regarding occasional places throughout the year.

A visit to our Prep School is highly recommended. We host a number of Open events throughout the year, and individual tours can also be arranged.

Abbot’s Hill Enquiries and Registrations

Entry to Reception (4+)

Starting school is a big step for any child. We understand and cater for the individual needs of every child joining our assessment process.

Entry assessments take place from the Autumn Term prior to starting school the following September.  Children work and play in a relaxed environment with expert staff on the Assessment Day, and spend up to two hours with us. Toys, books and 1-1 tasks are used to engage conversation. Children enjoy the experience, as our staff ensure that they feel at ease at all times.

Entry to Year 3 (7+)

Registered children will be invited to join us for a one day taster visit, which will give your child the opportunity to spend time with their peers and familiarise themselves with the school’s surroundings, and experience life at Abbot’s Hill.

Children will complete age appropriate assessments which are led by an experienced member of staff. We will also ask your child’s present school for a reference.

Parents will have an opportunity to meet with the Head.

Prep School Occasional Vacancies

Moving to a new school can feel like a big choice. At Abbot’s Hill, we ensure that any child entering the school has the warmest welcome and feels settled as quickly as possible. We do have occasional places in some year groups, and if you are considering moving, we would recommend speaking to our friendly Admissions team and coming for a tour of the school. We would love to meet you and show the impact an Abbot’s Hill education could have on your child.

There are many ways to get a taste of life at Abbot’s Hill – whatever you choose, you can be sure of a warm welcome. We are very proud of everything that goes on each day in our classrooms, outside in the 76 acres of parkland and through our extensive co-curricular programme, and our pupils are always keen to meet prospective families and chat about their experiences at school. We know that our pupils are our very best ambassadors!

Our Clan Dance Competition was an incredible showcase of talent, teamwork, and dedication.

Our senior students have been working hard, practising and rehearsing to come together and deliver some amazing performances. The competition was tough, and every clan shone on stage, bringing energy, creativity, and spirit to their routines.

A huge congratulations to this year’s winners, Macneil.

Thank you as well to our Marketing Club for putting together such a fantastic reel and capturing the event so brilliantly.

We were delighted to welcome local historian Richard Westwood to Abbot’s Hill School to speak with our Year 6 students about the rich history of our site.

The visit, kindly arranged by Mrs Kneller, gave the girls a fascinating insight into John Dickinson, who built Abbot’s Hill as a family home, and how it has evolved into the school we know today.

Students also enjoyed learning about our Observatory, which once housed a telescope, adding another layer to the school’s unique heritage.

The girls showed great curiosity throughout the talk, asking thoughtful questions and engaging enthusiastically with the stories shared. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring local history to life.

The Easter Bunny paid a special visit to our school today.

Wind and hail showers could not stop the fun as everyone set off on an exciting Easter egg hunt. There was also a competition to see who could collect the most eggs, and the Macneil clan were victorious.

To finish the day, every child received a delicious chocolate egg.

A big thank you to AHSPA for helping keep the Easter Bunny well stocked with eggs. We are very grateful for your support.
