Senior Sports
Sport is woven into the fabric of life at Abbot’s Hill. Through a rich and varied sporting programme, our students develop far more than athletic ability — they build leadership, resilience, and the kind of teamwork that stays with them long after they leave us. we believe in providing opportunities to engage every pupil, to instill a lifelong love of physical activity through our multi-sport programme.
Our dedicated Sports Department works with genuine passion to ensure that every student finds joy in physical activity and carries a love of sport throughout their life. Inclusivity sits at the heart of everything we do — we firmly believe that sport is for everyone — and yet we are equally committed to helping talented athletes excel and reach the very highest levels in their chosen sport.
The majority of sports feature within our curriculum as well as in competitive teams and squads, and our timetable is further enriched by an extensive co-curricular programme offering a wide range of sporting pursuits. We also run a thriving Sports Scholarship programme for 11+ candidates who show exceptional promise — full details can be found on our Scholarships page.
Each Summer Term, the whole Abbot’s Hill community comes together for our much-loved Sports Days — a highlight of the school calendar. These wonderful occasions are as much a celebration of community spirit as they are of sporting achievement, and there is nothing quite like the energy in the air when students are cheered on by their families.
Underpinning it all are our outstanding facilities: a large sports hall, covered swimming pool, tennis and netball courts, football and lacrosse pitches, and of course, our 76 acres of grounds which lend themselves perfectly to cross country running and orienteering — everything our students need to train, compete, and thrive.
We recognise that healthy competition motivates students to aim high, whilst developing team and leadership skills. We therefore compete in many sporting events, from inter-Clan competitions to regional and national finals. An impressive number of pupils represent the School at various levels in the following sports:
