Moving on to Prep School
One of the wonderful things about being part of our all-through school family is how naturally your child will transition from Pre-Prep to Prep at Abbot’s Hill. There’s no nerve-wracking entrance assessment and no starting from scratch with new faces – just a gentle, confident step forward into the next exciting chapter. Our Year 2 pupils join the Prep School feeling fully prepared, independent, confident and eager to embrace the new adventures that await them.
Throughout their time in the Pre Prep, your child will have been getting to know Prep School staff, exploring new spaces, and building those important connections that make moving up feel like a natural progression rather than a daunting leap. It’s all about familiarity and comfort, so that when the big day arrives, it feels more like an adventure than a change.
For families joining us from other local schools, we’re equally committed to making you feel welcome and supported. During the Summer Term, we bring everyone together through special events – including our Moving Up Afternoon – where children can spend time in their new surroundings, meet their teachers, and get a real taste of Prep School life.
This sense of continuity and belonging is further strengthened through our Clan system. When a child joins our school, they become part of one of our three Clans, and they remain part of that community throughout their time with us.
Whether your child has been with us since their earliest years or is newly joining our community in Year 3, we take great care to ensure that every pupil steps into the Prep School feeling excited, prepared, and ready to embrace all the wonderful opportunities waiting for them.
