Safeguarding

Our Commitment to Every Child

At Abbot’s Hill, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. As part of the Mill Hill Education Group, we place the welfare and protection of every pupil above all else, and we expect every member of our community—staff, volunteers, parents, and pupils—to share this unwavering commitment.

What Safeguarding Means to Us

Safeguarding encompasses all the measures we take to protect the health, wellbeing, and human rights of children, ensuring they can grow and learn free from harm, abuse, and neglect. We are dedicated to protecting every pupil from any form of abuse, whether from an adult or another young person.

Our approach is comprehensive and proactive. All staff – teaching and operational –  and volunteers receive regular, rigorous training to understand their collective responsibility in keeping our community safe. Everyone is empowered and expected to report any concerns promptly and confidently.

We work in close partnership with local safeguarding authorities, adhering to the inter-agency procedures and protocols of our Local Safeguarding Children’s Partnerships (LSCPs) and Multi-Agency Safeguarding Arrangements (MASAs), in full compliance with government guidance including ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’ and ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’.

A Culture of Care and Vigilance

Abbot’s Hill  is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive culture where all staff feel confident and competent to raise concerns about pupil welfare or adult behaviour towards pupils. We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we foster an environment where speaking up is valued and supported.

Our aim is to instill in every pupil strong values and a genuine sense of belonging within a secure, caring, and nurturing learning environment. We want every young person to feel confident that adults and peers value them, will listen to them, and will advocate for and protect them at all times.

Your Voice Matters

At Abbot’s Hill School, we believe that safeguarding is a shared responsibility. If you have any concerns—no matter how small they may seem—please speak up. Every concern is taken seriously, and every report helps us maintain the safe, supportive environment that our pupils deserve.
