Abbot’s Hill School can be hired as a filming location during the school holidays and at available weekends. Set in 76 acres of beautiful parkland overlooking the Gade Valley, our historic school offers modern facilities in a magnificent country setting. Our location is close to Kings Langley, Hemel Hempstead and the M25/M1 junctions.
The School’s main building is a beautiful 19th century house, the former home of John Dickinson, a paper manufacturer, who originally built the house as a family home and named it Abbot’s Hill. The Dickinson family founded one of the world’s largest stationery firms of the 19th and 20th centuries. The house was eventually sold to the Baird sisters, who opened Abbot’s Hill as an independent boarding school in May 1912.
There are vast outdoor spaces around Abbot’s Hill including manicured lawns, playing fields, a wood, outdoor sports courts, cross-country and orienteering courses and a covered swimming pool. There is ample space for parking around the school site.
Inside, Abbot’s Hill has many rooms with original period features, including our oak-panelled staff room, drawing room, stairwell area and fully stocked library. We have a bright, spacious dining hall with original window features, opening out onto the lawns. The school also has a theatre space and a large hall.
