Abbot’s Hill Clans head to the Highlands

Happy Burns Night!

As ever we are very proud to shout about our Scottish roots.

Abbot’s Hill was founded in 1912 by sisters Alice, Katrine and Mary Baird. The Scottish origins of the Baird family are reflected in the Black Watch Tartan of our Uniform and in the Clan system.

The Clan system involves the whole School, with pupils and staff being assigned a Clan. Siblings are placed in the same Clan. This January the three Clans; Cameron, MacDonald and Macneil have been competing in a virtual ‘Race to the Highlands’ back to their Scottish seats.

With over 564 miles to complete the Clans are aiming to reach Achnacarry Castle (Cameron), Armadale Castle (Macdonald) and Kisimul Castle (Macneill) where their Clans originated or still reside.

Hoping all who are celebrating tonight, with the more traditional haggis and neeps perhaps, have a fantastic time!
