Abbot’s Hill supports ‘You Donate… We Deliver’ initiative

Abbot’s Hill Parents’ Association has organised the collection and distribution of snacks and drinks for paramedics and ambulance staff.

The new initiative launched called ‘You Donate… We Deliver’ aims to provide paramedics and ambulance staff with an ‘on the go’ snack as they are so busy at the moment. In 2020, during the first lockdown, AHSPA organised the delivery of fresh cooked meals to hospital staff. We appreciate the willingness and kind-hearted actions of our parent body.

Thank you all to the Abbot’s Hill community who donated a huge amount to be delivered to the local Hemel Hempstead central hub, that will be given to Watford and St Albans hospitals.

The Parents’ Association hopes to collect again soon but please do email ahspa@abbotshill.herts.sch.uk if you would like to help.

ISA CROSS COUNTRY QUALIFIERS | A DAY AT ABBOT’S HILL
 
Last Friday, we were proud to host the ISA Cross Country Qualifiers, welcoming schools from across the ISA community to Abbot’s Hill for a fantastic day of cross country running.
 
With our beautiful grounds as the backdrop, competitors took on our challenging course featuring steep hills, varied terrain and some seriously impressive distances! Our drone footage captures just a glimpse of the stunning school site that made such a fantastic setting for the event.
 
A huge well done to all the runners who took part, and thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. We were delighted to welcome schools from across the ISA community to Abbot’s Hill!

This Black History Month, we are exploring the UK theme, Honouring Our Communities, reflecting on the people, past and present, who help shape the world around us.
 
Through assemblies and lessons, our pupils have been learning about the experiences of the Windrush Generation, who came to Britain to help rebuild the country after the Second World War, and the challenges they faced, including racism and discrimination.
 
We have also been discovering the remarkable contributions of Claudia Jones, who helped give Black Britons a voice and founded the event that grew into Notting Hill Carnival; Baroness Doreen Lawrence, whose tireless campaign for justice following the murder of her son brought attention to racism and failures within the police; and Lord Simon Woolley, a leading anti-racism campaigner who works to improve political representation and empower Black communities.
 
Alongside these important stories, pupils have been considering what makes a community feel like home: safety, belonging and shared strength. We have explored the importance of everyday heroes, from NHS workers and mentors to teachers, friends and the quiet helpers who make a difference through their care, courage and commitment.
 
As part of this learning, pupils are being encouraged to recognise and thank those who make a positive difference in their own lives, and to think about how each of us can help build a stronger, more inclusive community.
