Year 9 Rugby Festival

Friday 24 November 2017

On Wednesday 15 November, the Year 9 Rugby team travelled to Fullerians Rugby Club to take part in an U15s festival. The 7 teams in attendance consisted of a mix of Year 9 and 10 pupils, whilst Abbot’s Hill was the only school to have a team of comprised only Year 9s!

The results were as follows:

vs Francis Combes – 5-0 Win

vs Queens – 2-3 Loss

vs Ashlyns – 0-2 Loss, the girls created 3 or 4 good chances but great defence held them out.

vs Reach Free 2-2 Draw

vs Longdean 3-3 Draw

vs Parmiter’s 2-3 Loss, after an Abbot’s Hill try was disallowed at 2 all.

There was a fantastic team effort in defence and attack. The girls had some great tries which travelled through a number of hands, from one side to another to create space.

Well done to Isabel who was awarded one of the four special medals from the referee.

All of the girls put in a fantastic amount of effort throughout the games.  A special mention to Madeleine R who made her rugby debut on the day and got involved in it all – running with the ball, passing, tackling and getting into the rucks!
