On Tuesday 27 November, Year 8 took part in a cardboard challenge as part of Tomorrow’s Engineers week.
Their challenge was to make a prototype cardboard model of a toy and a marble that would keep a small child interested for a minute.
The girls had 5 minutes to design their toy and 30 minutes to build it, working in their clan groups.
The designs were very varied which meant that the science department had a difficult time judging the winners! This year they asked for assistance from the Year 11 Young Engineers.
Well done to the winners below who were chosen for their practicality and construction. There was also an innovation award for a group which came up with the most original design idea.
Cameron – ‘Grinch’s Grotto’ by Issie, Madeleine and Sienna
MacDonald – ‘Hoop a Loop’ by Kara and Nicole
Macneil – ‘Skerly Wirly’ by Philippa and Ethne
Innovation award – ‘Rory the Racing Car’ by Madeline and Charlotte G
