Tree planting at Heartwood Forest

Friday 25 November 2016

On Thursday 24 November, four members of the Eco-School team, accompanied by Mrs Curtis and Mrs Johnston, went to Heartwood Forest in Sandridge to take part in a tree planting event.

The event was part of the Woodland Carbon Capture Scheme, which is run through The Woodland Trust, and allows us to offset our carbon usage by planting deciduous trees in the UK.

Each pupil had their own spade and had to do lots of digging!  The hole had to be deeper than the root of the tree to allow it to grow properly.

Between them, the Abbot’s Hill girls planted over 100 trees!

It was a fantastic day and we were delighted to be a part of it.
