Seniors play in Rugby Union Festival

Wednesday 1 March 2017

On Friday 24 February, nine Year 8 and three Year 7 girls went to Longdean School to take part in a 7-a-side contact Rugby Union Festival. 20 teams took part and Abbot’s Hill were placed in group C. The girls opened their day with two wins over Astley Cooper School with a score of 5-2 before also taking the lead over Longdean by winning 5-3. This set up a decider with Kings Langley to see which school would come out on top.

Kings Langley gave up a penalty with less than a minute to go, Abbot’s Hill’s captain Millie took the ball into the heart of the defence, a quick passing move saw Isabel score in the corner. The referee gave the try and called full-time giving Abbot’s Hill the top spot!

Despite a great team spirit and a determined attitude, Abbot’s Hill lost the playoff games but the team came home happy and very muddy!

Well done to Zoe, Isabel and Elizabeth who scored 4 tries a piece, Georgia H and Catherine who both scored one try each. The rest of the squad comprised of Millie W, Connie, Leyla, Grace H, Imogen, Katie K and Seren.
