Senior School Commemoration Day

Tuesday 18 July 2017

The Senior School academic year traditionally concluded with Commemoration Day on Saturday 8 July.

Our guest speaker this year was Cycling World Champion, Joanna Rowsell Shand MBE. Joanna gave an inspiring speech about her cycling successes which included two Olympic gold medals and numerous World Records. She talked about the importance of self-belief, and overcoming obstacles in order to reach your goals.

As well as our Guest Speaker, there were speeches from Janet Mark, the Chairman of Governors, Elizabeth Thomas, Headmistress, and a report on the School year from Sharon Doyle, Deputy Head.

The Chamber Choir performed ‘A Clare Benediction‘, ‘Dream a Little Dream of Me’ and an energetic version of ‘Libertango’. There was also beautiful musical solos from Mia, who sang ‘Se tu m’ami, se sospiri’ and Music Captain Hannah on the Saxophone. Outgoing Vice Choir and Music Captains, Tehmina and Hannah, performed a beautiful duet of ‘Sull’Aria’.

After the prizes and leaving certificates had been awarded, families, staff and Governors enjoyed a picnic in the school grounds.

Congratulations to the Class of 2017 who became Old Girls on the day.
