The annual Clan Music Competition on the last afternoon of the first half of term showcased some outstanding musical talent in the school.
Since the beginning of term, music has been flowing through the corridors of the Dickinson building as rehearsals for the annual Clan Music Competition reached fever pitch. Musicians from across the three clans produced some dazzling displays in the categories of Solo Vocal, Solo Instrumental, Instrumental Ensemble and the much anticipated Whole Clan Song.
The competition was adjudicated by Mrs Karen Paul, Assistant Headteacher at Sandringham school who has many years’ experience as a director of music. Mrs Karen Paul was looking forward to adjudicating our Clan Music Competition as she was disappointed not to have been able to visit us on a previous occasion. She remarked on the high standard of the soloists but was particularly impressed with the ensemble performances in both the instrumental and singing categories. She said that “the collaboration and leadership skills needed to get the girls performing to such a high standard is immense and is all the more impressive being led, organised and rehearsed by the girls themselves. Considering the age of the captains and the performers, it was quite remarkable and a real joy to watch, listen and adjudicate”.
MacDonald worked very hard to hold on to their crown for the fifth year running!
To see the three clans and Music Captains working so closely and co-cooperatively together throughout the term has been an absolute delight. The girls have displayed great collaboration, team spirit and the Clan Captains have shown immense leadership skills and perseverance.
A big well done to all the girls in Senior School for taking part and making Clan Music such a successful and enjoyable afternoon. A great start to a well-deserved half term break!
