Over 200 pupils from the Senior School and Prep School took part in the production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver which played to four full houses in the Judi Dench Theatre; the opening night aptly coinciding with the 201st anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth.
Director and Head of Drama, Felicity Hindmarsh said: “In some respects this was one of our most challenging productions to date. Oliver is one of the most beloved British Musicals with a large cast and a wonderful musical score. The pupils rose to the challenge and gave outstanding performances and the stage management team worked hard to ensure this everything ran smoothly. I am very proud of them.”
Headmistress, Mrs Elizabeth Thomas added: “It was wonderful to see the whole school coming together and working as a team to create this fantastic production. We are fortunate to have superb facilities here at Abbot’s Hill but once again it was the vision, energy and dedication of the Drama and Music Departments, together with the talent and commitment of the cast and crew which really made this a stand-out performance. Well done to everyone involved – they thoroughly deserve the accolades received from members of the audience.”
