Thank you to the Abbot’s Hill School Parents’ Association (AHSPA) who have kindly purchased new sewing machines for the Art and Design department.
The new machines have already been well used and have been hugely appreciated!
Year 7 have completed a ‘Sewing Savvy’ project where they learnt how to thread a machine, wind a bobbin, sew basic stitches and applique shapes onto fabric. Year 8 have used a technique called stitch and slash. The Year 9 pupils are preparing to make bags in the Spring term and the GCSE Art and Design students are ‘up-cycling’ a garment for their Natural Forms project.
All of this would not have been possible without the new sewing machines which have made a real difference to the department.
Thank you to AHSPA for their generosity.
