Year 9 Rugby TeamYears 7/8 Rugby Team

On Friday 9 March, the predominantly Year 7 Abbot’s Hill Rugby team played in the Hertfordshire U13s County Festival at Hertford Rugby Club. The girls played 5 games and competed well against teams that had older players, scoring excellent team tries and making some outstanding individual efforts!

The team’s defence improved as the day went on and the squad is already looking forward to next year and competing in the U13 competitions.

Emma scored two tries whilst Imogen, Lauren and Sienna all scored one. The rest of the squad was made up of Charlotte C, Beth, Freya, Sophie W, Sophie T, Isabella H-H, Ann-Marie and Rose.

On Friday 16 March, it was the turn of the Year 9 Rugby team to take part in the U15s County Festival. The team played 5 games – winning one, drawing two and losing two, with the girls finishing third in their group. This is a tremendous achievement as all the other teams were predominantly filled with Year 10 players!

The Abbot’s Hill girls have developed an excellent offloading game that moves the ball with fluency in attack and that creates space for tries to be scored. Their defence has also developed a real team spirit that saw many attacks repelled! Claudia scored 6 tries, Samantha and Zoe each scored 3, Georgia scored 2 and both Elizabeth and Connie scored one apiece. The rest of the squad was made up of Millie, Catherine, Madeleine R and Isabel.

Through practice, determination and team spirit, the girls are continuing to go from strength to strength. Well done!
