GCSE Results 2013

Wednesday 18 September 2013

Congratulations to all our Year 11 pupils on an excellent set of GCSE results.

A tremendous 96.9% of grades are at A*-C compared with the national average of 68.1% and 54.5% of grades are at A*-A compared with the national average of 21.3%. The pass rate at A*-C including Maths, English and Science is 92%.

We are delighted with these results which continue our excellent record of GCSE success over a number of years and have been achieved in a year when there has been much publicity about standards becoming more rigorous and a slight dip in results nationally. The results reflect the hard work put in by pupils and the excellent teaching and small classes at Abbot’s Hill which ensure pupils meet and exceed their potential, rising to the school’s high aspirations for them. We are also grateful for the support of parents.

As well as their tremendous academic achievements the girls have played an important role in the life of the school as prefects, in music, drama and sport and many were awarded their silver Duke of Edinburgh award this year. Girls have been awarded places at some leading schools and sixth form colleges and we wish them every success for the future.

Particular congratulations go to:

Leah who achieved 11 A* grades and who also achieved an Additional Maths qualification at the top A grade

Isabelle Talbot Price who achieved 10 A* grades and 1 A grade

Sophie Williams who achieved 8 A* grades and 3 A grades

Cordelia Jefferson who achieved 7 A* grades and 4 A grades

Lily Doyle who achieved 6 A* grades and 6 A grades

Aisha Mukhtar who achieved 6 A* grades and 5 A grades

Ellen Meadows who achieved 5 A* grades and 6 A grades

A small number of these results represent grades for short courses.
