Dacorum Technology Tournament

Wednesday 22 March 2017

On Thursday 16 March, three teams of Year 10 pupils attended the Dacorum Rotary Club’s Technology Tournament at Ashlyns School in Berkhamsted.  The task for the challenge this year was to construct a ‘pipeline pig’ – a device to clear debris from a pipe to keep the contents (water or gas) flowing effectively. It would be powered by a motor and needed to be able to move backwards and forwards.

Whilst they were constructing the device, they also needed to present their ideas in a written portfolio to be handed in and marked. All of the three groups were able to complete the task and the devices made all worked well. This year, the task was much more challenging and it was very rewarding see the groups’ ideas coming together.

Congratulations to our ‘Team 2’ who came third overall! Well done to the Year 10 girls who took part – Lucy F, Emma, Leonie, Leila, Lucy A, Sophie,  Ella, Amelia W, Mariella, Emily, Molly and Abi.
