Abbot’s Hill pupils selected for ESSKIA Training Camps 2017

Tuesday 29 November 2016

The English Schools’ Ski Association (ESSKIA) holds annual Squad Training Camps for young ski racers.  These take place in Norway, Italy and Holland, offering different levels of training according to age and experience.

The Squad members are selected as a result of good performances in the recent ESSKIA National Championship races as well as other race results and, where applicable, attendance on previous training camps at which performance, attitude and discipline were noted.

Hundreds of skiers from schools all over England take part in the Championships and it is a great honour for those chosen to attend a training camp.  Apart from the ski training, a good deal of fitness and agility work is done.  It is hard work but those who attend always come back ready for more, having made progress in skiing and personal development, enjoyed themselves and made friends from all over the country.

Congratulations to the girls who have been selected this year:

Helena (Year 10) – Squad I camp in Geilo, Norway

Rosie and Harriet (Year 7) – Junior Squad camp in Pila, Italy

Matilda (Year 6) – Primary Squad camp in Landgraaf, Holland

We wish them well and look forward to hearing about it all on their return.
