This week at Abbot’s Hill we have begun celebrating Black History Month.
The senior school came together in an assembly delivered by Mrs Davison to celebrate Black History Month and in particular, the achievements of Paul Stephenson who organised the Bristol Bus Boycott in 1963.
In addition the senior school also enjoyed a fantastic assembly on World Afro Day, delivered by Year 11 Inclusion Prefect Izzy B who talked about Afro Hair and the importance of not asking to touch it.
In the library Mrs Rochester has been show casing key books on notable Black people, as well as literature by writers such as Maya Angelou, Malorie Blackman and Angie Thomas.
In Science, as part of Space Week, the Science Department have been shining a light on the remarkable achievements of Dr Maggie Pocock.
