The Baird Award

The Baird Award offers an opportunity for Old Girls to increase their knowledge and experience through professional development or to take part in charitable activities in order to benefit others within the community.

The grant is to help towards costs associated with continued learning, work experience/career development (skills enhancement) or to benefit a community project/charity that you have been actively involved in for at least 6 months. The grant will award up to a maximum of £250 per application per year.

Successful applicants will be required to provide a report of how the award was used and an account/interview for the Abbot’s Hill Chronicle magazine.

Funds were awarded to alumnae who put forward a compelling application form to assist Delapre Abbey with two engagement projects.  The Baird Award will be used to help Delapre Abbey, a country house in Northampton with a rich history, to provide information booklets in other languages for visitors with limited English and for more children’s Victorian dressing up costumes for visiting families and schools.

Unfortunately due to Covid 19 restrictions, resulting in the Abbey being closed for a significant amount of time, these projects will now run into 2021; however we are very much looking forward to receiving a full report later next year.

If you are interested in applying for The Baird Award please keep an eye on this page or the AHOGA network where updates will be posted regarding 2021 applications.
