Prep

Using the menu below, please review the different sections to familiarise yourself with any adjustments to the school day from September 2020. If you have any questions at all, please contact Julie Snook at: jsnook@abbotshill.herts.sch.uk

From September 2020 until such time that we are able, Pre-Prep and Prep parents will not be allowed on site. This is for the safety of our whole community. Measures have been put in place to ensure that our children are welcomed into school.

All pupils should arrive and depart wearing wellies as we will be outdoors for as much of the day as possible.

Please note that there will be no homework set for the first half-term.

Start and end times

Breakfast Club will be in the main house as usual.

Year 3-6 children who arrive early and do not want breakfast should be dropped in the lower car park any time from 7:45-8:15am and make their way to Saint Nick’s Hall. There will be staff on duty to guide them from your cars. Pupils will be supervised until 8:00am. At 8:00am they will follow a set route to the designated year group play areas on the field until registration at 8:15am. Any pupils arriving late will need to go to the Main Reception where they will be taken to the Prep School.

The school day will end as follows:

Year 3 – 3:40pm

Year 4 – 3:50pm

Year 5 – 4:00pm

Year 6 – 4.15pm

Drop off and pick up

Drop-off

Buses will drop pupils off at the usual time. Please see the Transport Procedure tab for further details.

If you are arriving by car, we will be operating a roundabout drop-off point in the lower car park. You must display your daughter’s year group on your dashboard and follow the instructions given by ground staff. Year 3 – 6 parents are asked to remain in their cars and therefore please ensure your daughter has everything with her in order to facilitate an efficient drop-off. Please be reassured that Prep staff will be there to welcome your daughter.

Pick-up

There are no extra-curricular activities for the first two weeks of school. Pick-up will always be from the Hollies Gate. Parents must social distance at all times from each other and staff. We politely ask that masks are worn if possible and that parents leave the premises quickly without congregating in the car park.

Pick up times are as follows:

Year 3 – 3:40pm

Year 4 – 3:50pm

Year 5 – 4:00pm

Year 6 – 4.15pm

If pupils in Year 3-6 have siblings in Pre-Prep, they can be collected together from one location if needed. Please contact your child’s class teacher to arrange.

If you are unable to pick up your daughter at the specified time, she will be taken onto the field for an end-of-day break time until 4:25pm. You may collect your daughter from the Hollies gate at 4:30pm.

In the unlikely event that you arrive later than the stated pick-up time, you must go to the Senior School Reception and your child/ren will be brought to you. They will not be taken to After School Care because we must carefully manage numbers attending.

Parents must social distance at all times from each other and staff. We politely ask that masks are worn if possible and that parents leave the premises quickly without congregating in the car park.
