Year 10 Young Engineers took part in the Dacorum Rotary Technology Tournament.
The team were given a problem to solve – to make a launcher for a ‘capsule’ to send it into ‘space’. Part of the brief was to make sure it parachuted down safely. Provided with a selection of materials with which to make their structure the capsule needed to be fired directly upwards through a hoop and reach 3m in height. They also needed to record their ideas clearly in a portfolio that was sent to the judges.
Both teams did excellently, completing the task successfully and coming both first and second in their intermediate group! Congratulations Amelia T, Katya, Maisie, Sai, Sophia and Ishani.
