LGBT+ History Month and Children’s Mental Health Week

Posted: 11th February 2022

Abbot’s Hill Nursery and School celebrate LGBT+ History Month and Children’s Mental Health Week.

This week at Abbot’s Hill the Nursery, Prep and Senior School have supported Children’s Mental Health Week, ran by Place2Be, and the 2022 theme ‘Growing Together’. We have also this week begun raising awareness of LGBT+ History Month.

Children in the Nursery listened to poem ‘A Lang Promise’ by Jackie Kay. They discussed how the poem is about loving someone, no matter what.

In the Senior School pupils and staff have taken part in various activities such as creating a LGBT hero display in Art, Current Affairs club are analysing media coverage of the History Month and our PE staff will from today be proudly wearing rainbow laces!

All of these celebrations have tied in with Place2Be ‘Dress to Express’ day today for Children’s Mental Health Week. There have been some very colourful and unique outfits! Some pupils have opted to support LGBT+ History Month through wearing rainbow clothing and accessories. Thank you to our fantastic catering team who have created rainbow cakes for desert today.

The school logo has been updated to a rainbow version across all social media channels to show solidarity with the LGBT+ community.
