St George's hosted this year's U15 County Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday 24 September. The Abbot's Hill squad were raring to go following a quick warm-up and were ready to put the skills they have learned in recent weeks into practice.
To start the day the squad played St George's B team, during which they demonstrated some excellent team play and individual skill levels to win 7-0. The successes continued throughout the morning with some fantastic midfield transition play and advanced attack perimeter work. The girls well deserved the 2-2 draw against Haberdashers though were somewhat disappointed as they were winning until the last few minutes of the game. The next match against Bedford was a close-fought game which Abbot's Hill were winning 1-0 at half time. During the second half however Bedford equalised, and were eventually able to gain the lead to win 1-2. Despite being quite tired from such determined play, the squad played incredibly well in their final match and beat Berkhamsted 4-1. Winning two games and drawing one entered the girls into the plate final in which they narrowly lost 3-2 to St George's A team in a very exciting and close game, but beat Haileybury 4-1, once again demonstrating some brilliant team cohesion and individual stickwork.
Huge congratulations should go to Izzy Talbot-Price who was named Most Valuable Player for the tournament as a result of her incredible workrate and stunning midfield drives.
We are delighted to report that the following 6 girls were offered a trial to represent Hertfordshire in the U15 age group this season; Jemma Attar, Lily Doyle, Holly Edwards, Leah Parry, Mia Roberts and Isabelle Talbot-Price. The trials took place on Sunday 25 September, more details will follow!
