District League November 8 2011
The U14 Netball squad began their District League competition this week in fine form. Hosting Kings Langley School, the team fully anticipated a feisty competition and was well prepared for one.
Having won the first centre draw, Abbot's Hill made good use of the advantage and were able to move the ball quickly down to their attacking end, converting their first shot with ease. The remainder of the quarter continued in a fast paced manner, with both teams converting the majority of their shooting attempts to end the quarter 5-3 to Abbot's Hill. The second half was very similar; Kings Langley fought back hard and scored an additional two goals, however, this was not sufficient to overwhelm the exceptional teamwork displayed by the home side who scored a further four goals.
After a brief half time rest, both teams were ready for action again. Abbot's Hill had an exceptional third quarter, with the attack players scoring six additional goals while the defence displayed some dynamic individual and team skill to prevent Kings Langley from scoring a single goal. This success continued into the final quarter when Abbot's Hill converted three final goals to win 18-6. A huge well done to all the team for their fantastic cohesion and work rate, and especially to Rosie Hudson who was named MVP by both the visiting team and the coaches.
We look forward to continuing the District League campaign this term.
