The U16 squad continued their District League campaign last week with a match against local team Ashlyns on 17 November.

After a solid warm up, the team began confidently with some excellent transitioning of the ball downcourt, ensuring Abbot's Hill were comfortably in the lead by 9 goals to 2 at the end of the first quarter. Ashlyns then came fighting back in the second quarter and scored a further 7 goals to be just behind 11-9 at half time. The second half proved to be a highly competitive affair, with both teams playing an assertive game. With some solid defending from both sides and excellent transitional play, the score was tied 15-15 after the third quarter. With both teams on an even pegging and only 8 minutes to make the difference between a win and a loss there was a strong competitive edge between both sides. Every ball was played for with a high level of determination and each attacking opportunity was vital. With much support from the sideline, Abbot's Hill were able to put an extra 2 goals past their opponents to win the match 22 - 20.

It was a thrilling game of netball to watch, and an especially big congratulation ought to go to Phoebe Kropacz who was nominated MVP for the afternoon.
