The Infant Department – Key Stage One (Years 1 & 2)
A more formal approach to learning is adopted as girls progress into Year 1. The curriculum is broad and balanced with attention and importance placed on the individual and their learning. Maths is currently set from this stage, enabling girls to develop firm foundations upon which their understanding can be built at the pace most appropriate to them.
Each class is led by a class teacher and supported byclassroom assistants. Teaching staff work closely drawing upon each other's strengths and expertise to the benefit of the children. Specialist teaching in Music, French and PE continues and ICT and Dance are added.
The Infant department has its own library which is constantly added too. Girls are encouraged to foster a love of books and reading, this includes borrowing books to use in the classroom or take home from the Library as well as through their progress in the reading scheme.
