Due to demand of nursery places, we are looking to recruit for experienced Early Years Practitioners to join our growing team.

Set in beautiful grounds of 76 acres just outside Hemel Hempstead, Abbot’s Hill has exciting opportunities for an experienced and qualified Early Years Practitioner at the new Day Nursery and Pre-School. The role is 40 hours per week, all year round.

Teacher of History

(Permanent 0.5-0.6fte)

Abbot’s Hill School wishes to appoint a highly competent and enthusiastic Teacher of History commencing September 2017. An ability to also teach another subject could be an advantage.

You will be working within dynamic and thriving Humanities departments and be expected to assist in the development of the teaching practice within those departments: to enthuse, engage, motivate and inspire pupils. The allocated timetable will include teaching History to KS3 and GCSE classes.

Learning Support Teacher

(Part time and full time applications will be considered)

Abbot’s Hill School wishes to appoint an experienced Learning Support Teacher with a recognised qualification in Specific Learning Difficulties.

The successful candidate will have expertise in a range of difficulties and be able to work on a small group basis with children that have been diagnosed with a Special Educational Need in both the Prep and Senior schools.

The Learning Support Department has a designated base, is very well resourced and provides a wonderful space to support children and offer expert advice to colleagues in the School. As part of a dynamic and thriving team, we expect you to promote a positive working environment whilst recognising and responding to the individual needs of pupils. Non-Teaching Vacancies

Accounts Administrator

Full time, 52 weeks per year
Monday to Friday – 8.00am – 5.00pm
Pay – circa £23,000

Abbot’s Hill School are looking to appoint an Accounts Administrator who will be part of the School’s finance team. The role involves working in the finance office and being responsible for the purchase ledger, parent billing and other finance related administrative tasks. The successful candidate should be able to work efficiently and effectively, produce accurate work to deadlines and be willing to join a hard-working and important team.

The successful candidate will have an AAT qualification or equivalent (which could be suitable experience rather than a formal qualification). They will need to have a professional manner and excellent numeracy and literacy skills. We require someone who is confident using IT packages such as Excel. They should have experience of using accounting software and knowledge of PASS would be an advantage but is not essential.

Food Technician

Full-Time, 8am – 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday
Term time only

Abbot’s Hill School is looking to appoint a Food Technician to provide general support and assistance to the Food Studies Teacher and other staff within the department for both Senior School and Prep School lessons. The successful candidate will be responsible for ordering and organising all of the food for the pupils’ food lessons and ensuring that the kitchen area is kept clean and tidy at all times. Some of the other tasks include, photocopying, filing, laundry and creating classroom displays. A love of food and cooking is essential and the ability to work calmly under pressure.

The successful candidate will be able to build excellent and appropriate relationships with both staff and pupils whilst supporting pupils in their learning. You must be flexible in respect of hours and days of work to encompass special events in the school calendar for example Commemoration Day, Open Days, etc. Experience of working within the education sector would be an advantage but is not essential. You will need to have basic ICT skills and be confident in using email, the internet, Microsoft Word, etc. The successful candidate should have a First Aid Qualification or be willing to undertake the training required

Cleaner

Hours of work – 5pm – 7pm or 5.30pm – 7.30pm, Monday – Friday, Term time (including Inset Days) plus 3 weeks during the holidays
Pay – £7.35 per hour

Abbot’s Hill School currently have vacancies for cleaners to join the Household Team, to assist in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness throughout the School.  Previous relevant experience is highly desirable but not essential.

Maintenance Technician

Hours of work – 7.00am until 5.00pm (3.00pm during the school holidays)
Full time, 52 weeks per year
Pay – Circa £20,000

Abbot’s Hill School are looking to appoint a Maintenance Technician who will be part of the School’s facilities team. The role involves being a member of a hardworking support team carrying out both maintenance and caretaking roles.

The successful candidate will need to be competent in a variety of skills and repair work and have experience in painting and decorating.  Moreover, you will require the aptitude to be able to apply yourself to most basic maintenance tasks.  Additionally you will need to be reliable and conscientious and be a willing member of an important team who provide caretaking support to all the other departments in the school.  Any qualification or equivalent will be an advantage (although the equivalent could be suitable experience rather than a formal qualification). Overall you will need to have a professional manner.
